Beaches in Oceanside, California

With a name like Oceanside, you can only imagine that beaches would be a large part of daily life here. Oceanside has 3 ½ miles of pristine white sand beaches, and below you will find that each has a different character all its own!

Buccaneer Beach

Buccaneer Beach is a smaller beach here in Oceanside, and it is only open to swimmers, waders, and body boarders. Surfing is not allowed here and there is a lifeguard tower located at the beach. Right across the street is Buccaneer Park where you will find a playground, picnic area, barbeque grills, basketball courts, restrooms, showers, and a snack bar. Not bad for a little beach park!

Oceanside Boulevard Beach

Oceanside Boulevard Beach is also a great area for swimmers. Surfing is also not allowed here, which is probably a good thing, since there is a very large rock that breaks through the surface of the water at low tide! For facilities, you must use the neighboring beaches, but there is one lifeguard tower here for your safety.

Wisconsin Street Beach

Wisconsin Street Beach is more of a narrow beach area, so be careful when the tide comes in. Restrooms and showers are available here for your use. Lifeguards are on duty also.

Tyson Street Beach and Park

Tyson Street Beach is quite a popular beach during the summer because it offers so many great facilities. Enjoy the picnic tables, playground and grassy area contained in this beach park. Restrooms, showers and a lifeguard tower are also onsite here. Due to the higher crowds in the summer months, surfing becomes quite dangerous, so it is not allowed at those times.

Pier View South

Pier View South Beach is definitely the hot spot along Oceanside beaches. This area south of the Oceanside Pier has spectacular waves making it great for surfing, body board, and body surf competitions. Picnic areas, barbeque grills and fire rings are available for beachgoers to use and two lifeguard towers are at this beach. Surfing is allowed in designated areas, and restrooms and showers are onsite. Dining is also close by.

Pier View North

Pier View North is a bit quieter than its southern neighbor, but still offers a great beach area. Volleyball courts are available, and two lifeguard towers are located here for safe swimming and surfing.

Breakwater Way

Breakwater Way is located at the mouth of the San Luis Rey River. Surfers do enjoy this area near the jetty and the sandbars. Families with smaller children can appreciate the quieter atmosphere over the other beaches. Picnic and barbeque areas, volleyball courts, restrooms, and showers are also available.

Harbor Beach

Harbor Beach boasts that it is the largest beach area in Oceanside. It also offers plenty to do for everyone. It’s proximity to the harbor and marina area offers many different options including boating, and fishing. Picnic areas, barbeque grills, and fire rings make it easy to spend the day and enjoy some great food. Volleyball courts are onsite, and restrooms and showers are available too.
